Advanced Meta Guide

Expert-level tactics for entity counters, stamina economy, and competitive survival.

Stamina Economy Mastery

The stamina bar is your primary non-regenerating life source during active threat phases. In high-level play, the team that manages stamina most effectively wins engagements.

Stamina Principles

  • Never sprint during basic map traversal — exploration should use standard walking pace
  • Sprint exclusively for breaking line-of-sight during active entity pursuits
  • Depleting stamina before an entity rounds a corner results in mathematically unavoidable death
  • Pair Speed Coil with Soda — the coil provides velocity but NOT stamina recovery
The Golden Rule:

If you are not currently being chased, you should not be sprinting. Treat stamina as a consumable item with only 2-3 uses per bar.

Entity-Specific Counters

Different entities require different item counters. Using the wrong tool against an entity results in wasted resources and potential death.

High-Threat Entity Counter Matrix

Entity Recommended Item Notes
Agony Glass Coil Only item fast enough to outrun. Metal Bat and Freeze Ray are completely useless — Agony is stun-immune.
Alex Heliotrope Coil Only speed item effective. Alex's pursuit speed is calibrated slightly below Heliotrope maximum velocity.
Angry Munci Riot Coil Safe stun without halting movement. AVOID visual contact — speed scales with observation.
King Mid-air Crouch (Roll) Execute roll during jump shockwave to negate fall damage entirely. Avoid open spaces during projectile barrage.
Render Man Camera Aversion Avert camera downward immediately upon visual contact to minimize screen distortion and reduce aggression tracking.
Kolossos Lateral Dodging Execute lateral dodge the instant you hear the charge audio cue. Break linear paths immediately.
Brute Twins Healing Items (Teddy Bear, Burger) Bleed effect is continuous until healed. Prioritize immediate healing post-contact — do not attempt to tank through.

The Revolver: Probabilistic Defense

The Revolver is the absolute pinnacle of defensive tactical play — but it carries severe systemic limitations that demand precise execution.

Revolver Mechanics

  • 6-shot durability — exactly 3 live rounds and 3 blank rounds (50% misfire rate)
  • 5-6 second stun duration on successful hit
  • 15-second cooldown after any shot (hit or miss)
  • 50% chance of firing a blank = complete failure to stun
Never fire at close range. If you fire a blank at point-blank distance, the entity will kill you before your 15-second cooldown resets. Fire ONLY at maximum operational range to allow retreat time.

Optimal Revolver Strategy

  • Calculate the entity's closing velocity against your retreat speed
  • Ensure you have enough distance to complete a 15-second tactical retreat
  • Never rely on the Revolver as a primary defense — it is a situational tool
  • Once all 3 live rounds are depleted, abandon any stun-based strategy

Special Trial Optimization

Trial 3's guaranteed Special Trial modifier requires immediate strategic pivot. Recognizing the modifier within the first second is critical.

Modifier Identification Speedrun

  • Dolly: Objective text appears 5 times. Eye rises from below screen with distorted audio.
  • Double Trouble: Objective text appears twice. Entity count doubles.
  • Fog: Gray text layers behind standard blue objective text.
  • Blackout: Screen rapidly darkens, area around objective text fades out.
  • Bloodbath: Objective text replicates 5 times across screen.
  • Husk: Husk head graphic appears behind objective text.
  • Infection: Objective text rotates and shifts to green or black hue.

Trial 3 Tactics by Modifier

Dolly: Stop ALL movement when eyes open. Use the killer-pause window to reposition to safety. Resume movement only after eyes close.

Double Trouble: Hyper-conservative movement. Prioritize hiding over objective completion. Speed Coil becomes mandatory for any repositioning.

Fog: Abandon ranged weapons (Revolver). Rely on Radar and audio cues. Stick to interior spaces with shorter sightlines.

Blackout: Flashlight is mandatory. Agony becomes your friend — its light emission helps navigation.

Bloodbath: Perpetual high-speed movement. Rapid asset consumption. Focus on staying alive, not objectives.

Husk: Never stand still. Capture objectives become exponentially harder — consider abandoning them.

Infection: If multiple players die early, the map becomes overrun. Prioritize escape over all else.

Escape Trial Tactics

Trial 4's singular entity guarding the extraction eye creates an unavoidable bottleneck. Basic rushing strategies fail — organized counter-play is required.

The Kiter Strategy

Designate one mechanically skilled player as the "kiter" — their sole objective is to drag the guarding entity away from the exit point.

  • Kiter equips Speed Coil and a full-durability Shield or Metal Bat
  • Kiter intentionally triggers the entity's aggro radius
  • Kiter drags entity to the complete opposite side of the map
  • Remaining team members extract through the unguarded exit
Exit Camping: Some entities are programmed to "camp" the extraction eye. If the entity does not leave the exit area, your team must coordinate a distraction — a direct rush will result in multiple deaths.

Audio-Visual Discipline

Elite players react to audio cues faster than visual input. This training separates amateurs from veterans.

Critical Audio Cues to Memorize

  • Kolossos charge: Loud, distinct sound immediately before high-speed linear charge
  • Angry Munci humming: Low-frequency buzz indicating proximity and movement state
  • Alex breathing: Audible respiratory cue for localization during fog/blackout
  • The Mafia voice lines: "That'll teach you burger- shoot" indicates Right Hand agent nearby

Visual Discipline Drills

  • Render Man: Instant camera flick downward upon visual contact — practice until muscle memory
  • Eyemaster: Eyes darken prior to attack — immediate evasion upon noticing darkening
  • Lita attack telegraphs: Watch for visual cues indicating which attack variant is incoming
